Sean Dyche called Everton’s 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth the most frustrating defeat of his managerial career, with his team suffering the most dramatic defeat in Premier League history.

Everton became the first team to lead 2-0 after 87 minutes and still lose, thanks to headers from Lewis Cook and super-sub Luis Sinisterra in injury time that set up Antoine Semenyo’s first goal.

Goodison Park erupted in boos after the final whistle and Dyche then went full throttle on his shocked players.

“The game lasts as long as the referee lets it last and you have to play every second of the game,” he said.

‘You see a team dominate so clearly and then just not do the basics. You win headers, you win tackles, you win races and you win the game.

‘But for some reason they score a goal and we just look at each other and wait for someone else to make the difference…

‘After the first goal I could smell it. I thought, ‘This isn’t right’ and I shouted at them to get their shape and play the ugly side of the game, and we didn’t.

‘I’ve suffered a few defeats over the years as a player, coach and manager, but this is the most frustrating.

‘To dominate a game for so long and come out with nothing is incredibly frustrating. These are the things that you rack your brains about as a manager.’

Everton now go into the international break with no points from their opening three games and are still awaiting takeover news from potential new owner John Textor.

The only positive news is that Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewis scored their first league goals of the season before the final horror show began.
