Scottie Scheffler One Step Away From Triumph

In Atlanta, after the third round of the Tour Championship, the last event of the FedEx Cup, Scottie Scheffler has extended his lead at the top and with one round to go, with a score of “-26”, he has a lead of five strokes over Collin Morikawa, 2nd with “-21”, ahead of another American, Sahith Theegala, 3rd with “-17”.

In the United States, the world number 1 is one step away from becoming the new FedEx Cup champion and winning the super jackpot of 25 million dollars, which would put him close to Tiger Woods in terms of career earnings.

And speaking of Woods, the last player to win seven or more times in a season was the Californian (eight in 1999 and 2006, nine in 2000, seven in 2007). But Scheffler, also thanks to the gold he won at the Paris Games, now seems to be Woods’ designated heir.

In his golden year, 2024, the 28-year-old from Ridgewood, New Jersey, also triumphed at The Masters with the Green Jacket for the second time in his career. With a performance in Atlanta, Georgia, he would become the second golfer (after Rory McIlroy in 2019) to win The Players and the FedEx Cup in the same year.

After the reset of the points converted into strokes before the start of the tournament, he started with a total of “-10” and with 18 holes to go, he has the title in his grasp. On the “moving day”, on the East Lake Golf Club course (par 72), he made a 66 (-5) with six birdies and a bogey.

Scott Alexander Scheffler (born June 21, 1996) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He is currently the world number one, a position he first achieved on the Official World Golf Rankings in March 2022 and has held for over 80 weeks.

He won the Masters Championship twice: in 2022 and 2024. He became the first player to win the Players Championship in consecutive years, in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, he won gold in the men’s golf tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
