Save over $100 on lights, shelving and other hardware

Update 7/16/24: Since we posted, all of these deals have held steady in terms of inventory and price, but we do have a few notable exceptions. The Light & Motion Vis Pro 1000 Trail Bike Light is now $20 off , and a nicer version of Kryptonite’s U-lock and chain lock combo is now on sale for $50 off . The Rhinowalk handlebar bag is also back on sale for 35 percent off after a few days of its original price, so we’ve added it back in here.

If you’re a seasoned cyclist, you know how quickly the cost of gear can add up. Why not give yourself some leeway with a sale or two from Amazon’s Prime Day sale? Running today, July 16, through July 17, the site-wide sale is the biggest on the e-tailer’s calendar. The deals, many of which are exclusive to Prime members, range widely. That’s great news for cyclists looking for cycling accessories at a more manageable price point.

While it’s still early, we’ve already scored some discounts on editor-recommended gear that’s more than worth your attention before the horde arrives. We’ve searched for some of the best lights, locks, and racks money can buy—trust us, there’s enough difference in quality between what’s available on Amazon to warrant that “best” distinction. Top brands like Garmin, Kryptonite, and Blackburn are all on sale this week, and we’ve ridden many of the gear we recommend below on our own bikes, both casually and as pro testers. It’s best to jump on these deals while they last.

Looking for more deals on ride-spec gear? Check out our other Prime Day sale coverage here . In the meantime, read on to see what opportunities there are to score some of the best Prime Day bike accessory deals and fix up your bike for next to nothing. And check back often, because we’ll be updating this story throughout the sale with new deals as they pop up.

If you’re riding at night or on busy streets, bike lights are less of a suggestion and more of a necessity. Having a headlight and a taillight are essential for seeing and staying seen in all conditions. And you don’t have to pay full price for quality models this Prime Day.

Light & Motion makes some of the best rechargeable lights on the market, and I’ve been using mine for over a decade. My collection includes the now-discounted Vis Pro 1000 , which comes in road and trail versions with different beam patterns for different surfaces. The former is more direct, the latter is more diffuse. But if you’re just looking for a crazy-strong light, you’ll be happy with either. The road version is marked down just under $50, and the trail version has a slightly smaller discount of around $30.

As for taillights, you have the freedom to go all out with Garmin’s smart tail light, the Varia, for a nice $50 discount. This puppy can detect approaching vehicles, alert you via your bike computer, and track your ride for up to 6 hours with its built-in camera.

Let’s say you’re looking for a set of lights with a less hefty price tag. If you need both front and rear lighting, you can also save $24 on this combo pack from Niterider. It includes the editor-approved Lumina Micro, which packs a bigger punch in terms of brightness than any other light we tested in this price range.

There are plenty of bike locks on sale this Prime Day. That includes some of the toughest models from Kryptonite, one of our testing team’s favorite brands. Take the New York U-Lock, for example: It features a hardened, 16mm, double-locking shackle that requires two cuts to release your bike. It’s also marked down nearly $40 right now. Need a little more coverage for your wheels? Amazon is also taking a 27 percent discount off a U-lock and cable lock combo that keeps all of your important components together.

Plus, one of Kryptonite’s strongest chain locks, which fastens with a smaller version of the same U-lock, is on sale for over $50 off . Chain locks are great for long-term storage because they’re difficult to keep tight while operating an angle grinder, and Kryptonite’s chains come with a fabric sheath that makes it harder for thieves to start a cutting groove. Better yet, because the shackle is also a U-lock, the lock body isn’t the weakest link.

Rounding out our current picks, one of Abus’ frame-mounted folding locks has been marked down by over $100. It can be a perfect companion for your city bike if you don’t want to carry a lock in your bag or around your waist. Folding locks aren’t as secure as U-locks or chains due to their relatively fragile pivot points; however, if convenience is a priority, a folding lock will still keep your bike more secure than most lightweight options.
