Sanju Samson hits 110m long six during 58-run knock against Zimbabwe in 5th T20I – WATCH

Sanju Samson was on fire for India in the fifth T20I against Zimbabwe on Sunday (July 14), which was played at the Harare Sports Club. In the final match of India’s tour of Zimbabwe, the 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batter came out to bat at No. 4 for India and top-scored for the visitors with 58 runs. During his 45-ball stay at the crease, the right-handed batter hit one four and four sixes, with one of his sixes in the 12th over of the Indian innings being such that the ball travelled a distance of 110 m.

Samson was batting for 21 runs from 25 balls when he decided to hit a big shot against Zimbabwean spinner Brandon Mavuta. The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter hit the ball with such brutal force that it travelled a distance of 110 metres. The video of Samson’s huge hit is now going viral on the internet.

Samson, who was part of the Indian team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup last month, scored his second T20I fifty on Sunday to help India reach a total of 167 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. He added 65 runs for the fourth wicket with Riyan Parag (22) getting a chance to play in the fifth T20I in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad.

After Parag’s dismissal, Samson added 30 runs for the fifth wicket with Shivam Dube (26) before being sent back to the pavilion by Blessing Muzarabani off the third ball of the 18th over.

India have already secured the T20I series by winning the second, third and fourth T20Is played in Harare on July 7, 10 and 13. In the fourth T20I played on Saturday, Jaiswal scored 93 runs from 53 balls and added 156 runs for the first wicket with Shubman Gill (58) to help India chase down the target of 153 runs in 15.2 overs and win the match by 10 wickets.

In the fifth T20I against Zimbabwe, Jaiswal started his innings where he left off on Saturday and became only the second player in the world to hit two sixes off the first two balls of a T20I match.
