Sandra Mozzy Obituary (2024) – New Kensington, PA

Sandra Lee (Ruffner) Mozzy, 78, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 14, 2024, with her family at her side. Sandra was born in New Kensington. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Phillip Mozzy; son, Robert Mozzy; mother, Twila Ruffner; two brothers, Richard and Joseph Hines; and her sister, Phyllis (Hines) Walters. She loved her family, her dog Malkin, and watching Penguins hockey with her son, Dan, dearly. Sandra worked as a lunch lady at Martin School; Colonial & Steiner Flower Shops; and Celebrations Party Store. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington for over 50 years, where she was the visitation and care coordinator for 21 years, served as an elder and a staff advisor to deacons. Sandra helped with funeral dinners and served on the worship committee for nine years. She chaired committees and volunteered for the church. Her special crafts were stained glass, floral arrangements, and pottery. She loved cooking and working in her flower garden. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen and Daniel Mozzy; sisters, Nancy Jane Skulos and Carol Sue Ruffner, her best friend and caregiver who was so wonderful to Sandra; two grandchildren, Katie (Seth) Shots and Nick (Eden) Mozzy; two great-grandchildren, Lexi and Reily Shots; many nieces and nephews to whom she was very close, along with great-nieces and great-nephews; and her very dear friends, Barb Hines, Donna Roberts, Ginny Imm, and Carol Bielata. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington, 601 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15608, with Pastor Becca Siddle officiating.
