Samu Omorodion’s transfer to Chelsea falls through after contract completion issues

According to David Ornstein, Samu Omorodion’s move to Chelsea fell through due to a major problem in completing the contract.

Chelsea had agreed a transfer fee of £34.5million with Atlético Madrid for the striker and it was expected that the 20-year-old would complete his move before the start of the season.

Omorodion, who was expected to sign a seven-year contract with the Blues, was part of the Spain squad that won Olympic gold after beating hosts France 5-3.

Omorodion’s move to Chelsea failed

The Blues were in need of a striker and despite signing teenager Marc Guiu from Barcelona, they wanted to add another goalscorer to their ranks and Omorodion was their choice.

Everything seemed to be fine between the clubs and the player, but Ornstein reported that the deal fell through after a major problem arose with the finalization of the contract.

He went to X.com and said:

“Samu Omorodion transfer from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea has failed. Deal agreed between club and club and between 20-year-olds #Atletico peak + #CFC.

“But major issue in finalising contract means deal falls through; Spanish youth international will not move to Stamford Bridge @TheAthleticFC.”

This news is certainly a setback for Chelsea, who have been following the striker for most of the summer and clearly believe in his abilities.

Omorodion left Granada for Atlético last summer, but spent the season on loan at Alaves, where he scored nine goals in 36 games.

He has not played a single ball for Atlético yet, but he is considered one of the most promising young strikers in Europe. However, he is still very inexperienced and needs to learn a lot.

Chelsea could now turn their full attention to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as the Blues are in talks with their Italian counterparts over the possibility of the Nigerian being part of the deal that will see Romelu Lukaku join Napoli.
