Sadio Mane is a major reason behind Mo Salah’s reluctance to join the Saudi Pro League

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is a top target for the Saudi Pro League, with the Middle Eastern side making a whopping £150million bid for him last summer.

Although Liverpool rejected the offer, Saudi clubs are expected to come back with a different approach at the end of the season, with the aim of signing Salah on a free transfer. However, reports suggest that Salah himself is not keen on a move to Saudi Arabia.

According to Liverpool Echo correspondent Paul Gorst, there are several factors that are the reason why the Egyptian does not want to leave Anfield.

One of the main reasons for Salah’s hesitation is the declining reputation of his former Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane, who moved to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Since his move, Mane’s reputation in football has deteriorated, making Salah cautious about following a similar path.

Another key factor keeping Salah at Liverpool is his family’s strong ties to the city. His daughter, Makka, is reportedly well settled in Liverpool, making it difficult for the forward to upend his life for a move to Saudi Arabia.

Liverpool must resolve Salah’s contractual situation

With Salah reportedly keen to stay at the club, it is now up to Liverpool to offer him a contract extension that will convince him to stay.

Despite his 32 years, the Egyptian winger is still delivering top performances and shows no signs of stopping.

Salah’s fitness and consistency make him a valuable asset to Liverpool and he could well remain at the top level for a number of years to come.
