Ryder Cup is bigger than one individual

Tommy Fleetwooda popular name in the golf world, has always stressed how much respect he has for the Ryder Cup and how important it is to him. The 31-year-old Englishman has competed in several Ryder Cups, often leaving a significant impression with his performances.

There has been a lot of talk recently about Jon Rahm and his participation in the upcoming Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black next year. Rahm’s colleagues have shared their thoughts on his future with the Ryder Cup team. The 29-year-old golfer has refused to pay the fines imposed on him by the DP World Tour and has chosen to appeal the hefty penalties. This means he will have the chance to compete next year.

Fleetwood weighed on Rays decision, and sees it as a positive move. While he believes no golfer can ever be bigger than the Ryder Cup itself, he recognizes how valuable Rahm is to the European team, especially given the strength of the U.S. team this season. Many of the U.S. team’s players are dominating, with Scottie Scheffler leading the way.

“I think there can be a Ryder Cup team without any particular player in it,” Fleetwood said of Jon Rahm, quoted by the Irish Golfer.

“The cup is bigger than one individual.

But you know, if you look at the last Ryder Cup team, there was a lot of emphasis on who we were missing from the last Ryder Cup. We weren’t even playing, but we weren’t in the team room. And we didn’t have a lot of big characters in the last Ryder Cup.”

Fleetwood stresses that every quality golfer is important to the team, but he can also envision a team that doesn’t feature some of the bigger stars. There has been a lot of discussion about Jon Rahm and whether he will play in the cup, especially since his move to LIV Golf has complicated things for many players.

Initially, Rahm hoped for a permanent agreement between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf that would smooth his path to the Ryder Cup team. However, that agreement has not yet materialized, leaving him in a frustrating position. Despite this, Rahm remains adamant that a merger is still possible.

When asked if the rules and regulations should be adjusted to allow players who are not members of the DP World Tour to be eligible for Ryder Cup selection, Fleetwood shared his thoughts. He believes that if someone wants to play for Team Europe, they have to be a member of the Tour in some way.

He is not suggesting that the rules should be overly strict, but he believes that following the current regulations is the right approach. Fleetwood’s stance underlines the importance of participating on the tour and contributing to the team’s success, while still allowing for some flexibility.

Many believe that major rule changes are on the horizon, especially given everything that has happened in the past two years. Some experts have even called the advent of LIV Golf a new era for the sport, and it is clear that this has been the case. LIV Golf has brought about many changes in the golfing world, and some people are having a hard time adjusting to the new rules, as they see them as problematic.

These changes are most noticeable in events like the Ryder Cup and the Majors. The Cup is a prestigious tournament where the best golfers in the world compete, making it a major draw for fans. Naturally, LIV golfers are calling for rule changes that would ease their path to the Majors and give European players an easy path to compete in the Ryder Cup.

Rory McIlroy reacts to Jon Rahm’s participation in the upcoming Ryder Cup

Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroywho has been very vocal about LIV Golf and the potential merger, emphasizes that Jon Rahm would be a fantastic addition to the team next year. The European players are determined to stop the American team and achieve a big victory on their home turf.

McIlroy has expressed frustration with the ongoing discussions and rumors in the golf world. He feels that Rahm has done everything he needs to do to earn his place on the team, and his strong performances make him a valuable asset. The only requirement for Rahm is to play a minimum number of tournaments on the DP World Tour to qualify for the Ryder Cup.

The Spaniard can be pleased with the direction that has been taken recently. The only thing that remains to be done is the final agreement between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
