Ryan Secrest is the new host of Wheel of Fortune as season 42 begins

After more than 40 years at the helm, veteran game show host Pat Sajak has officially handed over the keys to “Wheel of Fortune” to Ryan Seacrest.

Sajak, 77, stepped down in June after 41 seasons as host of the show, which airs regularly on puzzle games. Seacrest will take over when the new season airs next week, along with co-host Vanna White.

The 42nd season of “Wheel of Fortune” premieres Monday, September 9 on ABC. Ryan Seacrest will host the first episodes.

In a promotional video for the transfer filmed earlier this summer, host Pat Sajak and co-host Vanna White welcomed Seacrest to the “Wheel of Fortune” set.

“I think the thing you’re going to enjoy the most is meeting the players and getting to know the audience,” Sajak told Seacrest in the video. “People love this show. They come to us every day and thank us for a half hour where they can watch it with their whole family.

“You’ll never find a better job, and you’ll never find a better co-host.”
