Ryan Garcia: ‘I’m going to the UFC’ after drug test suspension

Ryan Garcia is not handling his suspension with the New York State Athletic Commission properly.

After news surfaced that Garcia has been suspended for a year after testing positive for banned substances following his April 20 fight against Devin Haney, the boxer went on a rant on social media about his punishment.

Garcia (25-1, 1 NC) will pay a $10,000 fine and forfeit his $1.1 million purse to Golden Boy Promotions.

Garcia, 25, claims his innocence and says he is retiring from the sport.

“I am (angry face emoji),” Garcia wrote on I stand there because I don’t care what anyone says. Gun (to) my head. I say I didn’t take PEDs.

“Boxing is DEAD DEAD (skull emoji). Boxing messes with the wrong ones.”

During his rant, Garcia also claimed he was making the move to the UFC.

“I’m going to the UFC,” he wrote. “Dana, I want my 50gs. Real Dana White called me.”

On Instagram, Garcia added: Hey, look at this crybaby getting what he wants. I’ve never cheated. They banned me for a year, I hate all the fake ahhh people.

“Boxing sucks, I’m going to the UFC.”

While the move would be exciting, and Dana would likely be open to the option, the New York State Athletic Commission suspension would prevent Garcia from entering the cage, much like in boxing.

Along with his suspension, fine and forfeiture of his wallet, Garcia’s victory was overturned to a no-contest by majority vote.

The WBC super lightweight title was not on the line for the Haney-Garcia fight as Garcia missed weight.
