RWC Trophy Blitz meets Bloem in historic test week

Nche and Reinach, who both completed their education in the Free State capital at HTS Louis Botha and Grey College respectively, will be joined at the mall by Lukhanyo Am, Grant Williams and Trevor Nyakane from 1pm to 2pm.

“This is our fourth stop on the RWC Trophy Blitz and it’s great to bring the Webb Ellis Cup back to Bloemfontein during a historic week that sees the Boks take on Portugal in a sold-out Toyota Stadium on Saturday,” said SA Rugby Chairman Mark Alexander.

“The Free State is an important part of the local rugby landscape, not only because of all the quality players that come from the province, but they are also the current holders of the Carling Currie Cup.

“We have a great following here and although we were unable to visit Bloemfontein last year during the Trophy Tour, we are looking forward to the opportunity we get tomorrow at the Mall.

“We saw at the first three stops on the Trophy Blitz, in Gqeberha, George and Kimberley, and also at the two recent Test matches against Ireland in Pretoria and Durban, how passionate South Africans are about the Boks and rugby in general, and we are very grateful for that.

Earlier on Thursday, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Thomas du Toit and Makazole Mapimpi will attend a Get Into Rugby (GIR) Festival with 200 children – aged six to nine from ten different schools – at Mangaung Oval.

Get into Rugby is a national rugby initiative under the auspices of SA Rugby and is a brainchild of World Rugby. Its strategy is to grow the sport globally by encouraging players of all ages to try, play and retain rugby.
