Rust players slam ‘dirty’ decision to change ‘P2W’ community cosmetics just 2 days after launch

Into the Danger Barricade cosmetics Rust, launched in the weekly community item store, has undergone forced changes after a major exploit left players crying foul for pay-to-win. However, those who purchased the skin are demanding refunds from the developer after purchasing the now-modified barricade, as they planned to abuse the exploit.

Unlike the existing concrete Barricade skins in RustThe creator of the Danger Barricade, Kelmolegend, designed it to have a transparent part in its structure. The Danger Barricade consisted of three wooden poles with a small gap between them. You can’t shoot between the gaps in the barricade, as it only provides visibility, but a player quickly found an exploit when he put two of the barricades together.

As demonstrated by X/Twitter user @Protox0, placing the Danger Barricade next to each other created a small opening through which shots could be fired. As a result, sales of the barricade skyrocketed, with over 7,000 purchases made, with some even buying more than one skin to fill out their inventory in the hopes of turning a profit in the future if it were ever taken off the market.

The “pay-to-win” aspect of the cosmetic did not sit well with Facepunch Studios and was removed from the item marketplace within two days, leaving many players wondering why the item was even in the item shop. Following its removal, the creator of the Danger Barricade skin updated the skin at the request of the developer, modifying it to remove the transparent portion of the skin entirely and making it look similar to other barricade cosmetics in the game.

Players who already own the Danger Barricade skin will have the updated design in their inventory. However, many who purchased the cosmetic felt that the developer used “scummy” tactics to change the cosmetic after it officially went on sale. “Facepunch has to approve all skins that go on sale and they clearly had no problem making money off the previous version since they approved this one,” one player said.

Developers have offered disgruntled players the option to refund their skins within 48 hours of purchase, but many were still angry about the change after developers overlooked the exploit, leading to more calls for an option to disable it. Rust cosmetics on the customer side.

In the Rust marketplace, the prices of the other concrete barricades have dropped significantly in recent days and the Danger Barricade exceeded expectations, but not for the right reasons. This is not the first time that the developer has come under fire for pay-to-win skins due to transparency issues, as has happened with several skins before.
