Rugby Championship: Argentina stun New Zealand in Wellington

Winger Mateo Carreras pulled Felipe Contepomi’s Argentina within five points at half-time when he took advantage of a defensive error to slot the ball into the net.

The Pumas took the lead for the first time two minutes after the break when Franco Molina scored his first Test try by chipping a goal from a line-out.

Wing Mark Telea restored the All Blacks’ five-point lead, but a penalty from fly-half Carreras moved the Pumas within two points.

Iconic striker Creevy, who played 109 games for his country, slotted the ball over the bar and Carreras converted the ball to put the visitors five points ahead.

The three-time world champions tried to find an answer but made too many mistakes and a late penalty from Carreras put Argentina offside.

The teams will play each other again in Auckland on August 17.
