Roy Keane makes surprising prediction about Man United after Liverpool defeat

Manchester United lost 3-0 to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils lost their second game of the season, their previous defeat coming last week against Brighton.

Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah secured the Reds’ victory, handing new manager Arne Slot a convincing win in his first major match as Reds manager.

It was another disappointing day for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who came under increasing criticism from former players and fans for his failure to raise the standard of the team despite the club’s recent signings.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane still believes the Red Devils will finish in the Premier League’s top four even after their poor start to the season.

‘It was far from an even match – Liverpool were very good, they looked sharp and fitter,’ he said on Sky Sports, quoted by the Metro.

‘You can try to sugarcoat it, but United were shocking. Every time Liverpool went forward, they looked like they were going to score – not good.

Man United suffered another painful defeat against rivals Liverpool.

‘There’s been a lot of good PR for United about the plans for the stadium, blah, blah, blah. Today I’m really disappointed that United didn’t turn up.

‘I’m always surprised when the game is over after 60 minutes when you’re playing for Manchester United.’

‘I still think United will be in the top four.’

It remains to be seen whether Man United will finish in the top four this season, but it won’t be easy for them.

They need to improve massively both on and off the pitch if they are to achieve anything this season.

Man United can expect another difficult season

It is Erik ten Hag’s third season at the club and the Red Devils still have no identity on the field and no plan to compete with the best teams in the league.

Keane’s claim sounds a little over-optimistic given that his former team finished eighth in the league last season.

They have expanded their squad and spent money in the summer, but that still doesn’t guarantee them a top four finish given how far behind they are compared to the other top teams in the league.
