Ronda Rousey Says Last WWE Run Was Negative Experience – TJR Wrestling

Ronda Rousey has opened up about how she felt during her final WWE career and admits things have likely changed now that Triple H is running the show.

It’s well known by now that Ronda Rousey did not enjoy her second run as a WWE superstar. Rousey’s first run began when she made her official WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble. Over a year later, at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, she headlined the event with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair — the first women to headline WrestleMania.

After a WWE hiatus during which she had a daughter, Ronda Rousey returned at the 2022 Royal Rumble and won the match. The year and a half that followed has had its ups and downs, but most would say her first run was better than her second.

During an interview with Wrestlezone, Ronda Rousey opened up about how she didn’t enjoy working for the likes of Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and Bruce Prichard. In today’s WWE, led by Paul “Triple H” Levesque who runs the show as Chief Content Officer, McMahon and Laurinaitis are gone, but Rousey took a shot at keeping Prichard around.

“My last run, just with Vince (McMahon), Bruce Prichard and John Laurinaitis, it was just such a negative experience. Most of them are gone. Bruce’s little s**t ass is still there. But I’m not as excited to come back as I was last time.”

“Even though I’ve had so many competitions that I’ve really enjoyed and had a great time, when I look back on it, I don’t really think about the joy I had in those competitions and those live shows, or that I had so much fun.”

Ronda Rousey was frustrated with management during last WWE run

If she never wrestles in WWE again, Ronda Rousey’s last match came at SummerSlam 2023, when she lost to good friend Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match. As the interview continued, Rousey spoke about the frustrations she’s had in WWE, while also mentioning that women on the roster have told her about the positive changes that have taken place.

“I just think about the fear of never knowing what was going to happen until the very last minute, not having the chance to prepare and being cut short over and over again. The experience itself was so unnecessarily stressful. I think that’s why I was drawn so heavily into screenwriting and graphic novels.”

“This story is kind of a refuge from that. I know things are very different now. I’ve heard from the girls that it’s so much better, but it’s hard to let go of that and be excited to come back, like I was before.”

While Rousey’s WWE experience may not have been the best the second time around, she does have something to look forward to since Rousey announced she’s pregnant, meaning she and husband Travis Browne are expecting their second child. Congratulations to their family.
