Romano says young player will be ‘very, very special’

Arne Slot has made a great start at Anfield, with his Liverpool the only opponent who can match Man City at the top of the Premier League.

It seems that the rivalry that started back in the Jurgen Klopp era has flared up again, with the December 1 match already marked in red on the calendar.

By then, a pattern should have emerged in the Premier League and there should be a better picture of which clubs have the upper hand this season, even though the season is not even halfway through.

Liverpool happy with Rio Ngumoha

The 2024/25 season offers every player the chance to really prove themselves for their team, and Liverpool clearly have a young player in the fold that they have high hopes for.

“Rio Ngumoha is the sensational new talent at Liverpool,” Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“They signed him on a free transfer from Chelsea and the youngster is considered fantastic, the club is in love with him.

Rio Ngumoha left Chelsea for Liverpool this summer.

“They’ve obviously been scouting him for a long time and they believe that Rio isn’t just a player who comes through the academy and ‘okay, we’ll see how he does in the future’. Liverpool think the potential of this kid is absolutely insane.

“So they obviously had to pay a significant compensation, but at the same time Liverpool believed they had one of the best deals around. They were really impressed with his first training sessions at the club in the last few days, very happy with his attitude and happy with his quality.

“This boy is going to be really, really special.”

Unless the Reds are battling a series of injuries at the same time, it is unlikely we will see much of Ngumoha this season, but the news that he is so highly regarded by the club will certainly pique the interest of supporters.

Given the lack of transfers in the summer, fans will be hoping the club has made the right decision in this matter.
