Roland-Story softball falls to Nevada, 5-2 – KQRadio


The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team was back in action on Monday as they made the trip east to take on the Nevada Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference play at Nevada High School. Roland-Story came in with a 7-17 record, while Nevada came in with a similar 7-17 record.

Roland-Story would score two runs in the top of the first inning, as Kate Berggren was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, before Mackenzie Peterson scored on a wild pitch to give the Northmen a 2-0 lead. Nevada would then score 2 runs on an error by the Northmen in the bottom of the first inning to tie the score at 2-2. Nevada would then score two more runs via a pair of steals at home in the 3rd to go up 4-2, before adding another run on a passed ball in the 4th to go up 5-2, which would be the final are.

Kate Berggren went 1-for-1 with an RBI and two draws, while Miley Geise went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Geise would also pitch 6 innings, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 4 hits and striking out 8.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to rival South Hamilton to take on the Hawks in Heart of Iowa Conference play in Jewell at 7:30 p.m.
