Rohit Sharma reveals why he ate a piece of mud after India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph – FirstSportz

The world went crazy when Wimbledon released a photo of Rohit Sharma eating the mud after India’s historic triumph at the Kensington Oval Barbados. The image also had Novak Djokovic right next to him as he performs his iconic tradition of eating grass.

If we look at Novak Djokovic’s history, after a win he just wanted to taste the grass on the Wimbledon court and from that moment on he made it a method that would become a phenomenon. Sharma, however, had no such history. He just wanted to taste the court.

Nothing was scripted. It was all coming instinctively. I was feeling the moment. When I went to the pitch, that pitch gave us this trophy. I will remember that ground forever in my life and that pitch as well. I wanted to have a piece of it with me.

Rohit Sharma said in a video for BCCI

He added that it was a very special moment and he wanted a reminder of the epicentre where all of Team India’s dreams came true and where the famous photo of Rohit Sharma tasting the surface had gone viral.

Sharma also spoke at length about how India’s triumph was a process that took years of planning to come to life. He said he now had all the time in the world to sleep and wanted to experience every moment of the triumph, which saw India lift the sacred silverware for the second time.
