“I think Virat was – last time we saw it in the IPL itself and Rohit in the World Cup. I think they are both in great shape. I think with every game there is a certain plan that you go into. Sometimes one has to take a chance, the other has to play a defensive role. So I think that’s going to happen here, that’s what’s happening. Rohit is playing his natural game,” Paras Mhambrey said at the pre-match press conference in Australia.

Mhambrey also praised Kohli for his intentions and said the team management has set the template for an aggressive approach for everyone to follow.

“But it’s good to see that especially in this game the intention that Virat has shown, I think it’s good to see that, good to see that intention. And I think performance – you’re going to have games like this, you’re going to have a run of 40, 50, but I think the way he went about it with the intention was good to see. That was good encouragement. And I think that’s the goal that we want as a batting unit. Something we emphasized during the last World Cup and this World Cup as well,” he added.

Kohli has had a tough season so far in the 2024 T20 World Cup, conceding just 66 runs from five innings at an average of 13.20 and a strike rate of 108.19.

The 35-year-old started the tournament with just five runs in the first three innings but has finally found form with scores of 24 (24) and 37 (28) against Afghanistan and Bangladesh respectively.
