Rodeo comes to High River this weekend

The annual Guy Weadick Rodeo will offer sessions on the grounds of the High River Agricultural Society on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Cowboys and cowgirls return to the grounds of the High River Agricultural Society this weekend for the annual Guy Weadick Rodeo.

The event takes place on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 and participants come from all over to compete in a variety of rodeo disciplines, from saddle bronc and barrel racing to steer wrestling and bull riding. Rodeo sessions start at 6:30 PM both days

Previous events have included participants from far and wide, from Aldersyde to Australia and Okotoks to Oklahoma.

In addition to all the action in the arena, the popular event also includes a beer garden, live entertainment and food trucks.

The rodeo is named after the late George Guy Weadick, an American-Canadian cowboy, performer and promoter best known as the founder of the Calgary Stampede. He was married to famous cowgirl Florence LaDue.
