Rockets interested in trading for Suns’ Kevin Durant, according to report

The Houston Rockets are interested in a trade for Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant. according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

This comes after Houston acquired some of the Suns’ future draft assets from the Brooklyn Nets in a trade Tuesday night. according to Wojnarowski. Following the draft pick trade, the Rockets now own a 2025 pick swap with the Suns, plus their unprotected 2027 first-round pick, and are now linked to a 2029 first-rounder who could replace Houston in certain outcomes could be.

Wojnarowski reports that acquiring Durant will now become “much easier” for the Rockets, noting that Phoenix wants to keep Durant now, but “that could change next season.”

Wojnarowski notes that the Rockets are intrigued by the Durant acquisition but will now take those Suns picks and try to be aggressive with upgrades elsewhere on the trade market. He reaffirmed that the Suns want to play with this current group again next season.

Durant, 35, has been the subject of trade speculation for most of his career and is thus reliving the headlines this offseason. He is coming off his second year with the Suns and his first full season after being acquired from Brooklyn at the trade deadline in February 2023.

Durant has two years left on his contract before he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
