Ajla Tomljanovic And Yelena Ostapenko meet each other at Wimbledon on Tuesday. It will be their first meeting at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2021, when their tennis The match ended in fireworks.

The revenge could be tough!

Tomljanovic, 31, is the underdog. Ostapenko, 27, is the favorite. The latter defeated the former in their only match in the past two years in the Round of 64 at the Australian Open.

However, anything can happen as tensions run high between the two athletes. They have a rivalry that goes back three years. Their feud dates back three years to The Championships.

Ostapenko trailed 4-0 in the third set of the third round. She requested a medical timeout as Tomljanovic was about to serve.

Tomljanovic was convinced that Ostapenko was lying and gave her opinion to the chair umpire. This did not go down well. Both players were furious.

Eventually play resumed and Tomljanovic won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Their post-match handshake quickly became heated.

If you think I’m faking, you can talk to the physio. Your behavior is horrible. You have zero respect.

—Jelena Ostapenko

Tomljanovic told Ostapenko that she was the one who needed to talk. Ostapenko told Tomljanovic that she has the worst attitude on tour. The verbal jabs flew back and forth until they eventually went their separate ways.

It didn’t stop there!

Ostapenko insisted she was dealing with an abdominal injury and branded her opponent disrespectful. Tomljanovic still wasn’t buying it.

She can say she was injured. I don’t think so. I think it was a clear reason that she wanted to take me out of my game. In terms of her game, there was nothing wrong with her (…)

I think it’s disgraceful behavior from someone who is a Slam champion. If she had gotten hurt, she could have handled it in a better way.

– Ajla Tomljanovic

All the drama between them was extremely entertaining and never let up. Neither athlete apologized. Neither athlete cleared the air.

Now, three years later, Ostapenko and Tomljanovic meet again at Wimbledon. Their first-round match is not only good from a strictly on-court tennis perspective, the underlying beef stemming from that same tournament makes Monday’s match must-see television!
