Revealed: David Beckham will join Tom Brady and Rob McElhenney for League One clash between Birmingham and Wrexham

Rob McElhenney has revealed that David Beckham will be in attendance at Monday night’s match between Birmingham and Wrexham.

Although it is a League One fixture, some very familiar faces are expected to be in attendance at St Andrew’s.

Wrexham co-owner McElhenney will fly direct from the Emmys to the game, while former NFL star Tom Brady, a minority shareholder in Birmingham, will also be in attendance.

McElhenney said: ‘Right after the Emmys I’m getting on a plane and flying to Birmingham, England, to watch Wrexham play Tom Brady’s team, Birmingham City.

‘We’re not legally allowed to bet on the games, but we’re having fun, we’ve got social media and all that. I’m going with him and I believe Mr David Beckham will be there too – we’re going to have a good time.’

Wrexham, who were promoted from League Two last season, currently sit top of League One with 13 points from their opening five games.

Birmingham are now in sixth place with 10 points from four games.

Beckham has become friends with Brady, and the two were seen together at the Inter Miami-Cincinnati game in August.

The match between Birmingham and Wrexham is expected to attract large audiences, both in England and the US.

Wrexham have enjoyed tremendous growth under the co-ownership of McElhenney and fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, with the takeover being approved in 2021.
