One of the sports media’s top NBA insiders is reportedly set to become a free agent.

According to Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York PostShams Charania has left Stadium after spending the past six years with the outlet. It was also noted that Charania’s contracts with The Athletic and FanDuel TV are coming up.

Glasspiegel stated that sources say it is “still uncertain” whether Charania will remain with The Athletic and FanDuel TV as contract negotiations are still ongoing.

During his time at Stadium, Charania presented the weekly show Within the association and appeared regularly on the company’s daily show, The rallyHe was also the star of Stadium’s tentpole shows surrounding the NBA draft and free agency, which typically drew large audiences via social media platforms. His content on Stadium attracted sponsors like AT&T and State Farm.

Charania’s impending free agency comes at an interesting time, as the NBA media landscape is set to change. In 2025, the league will ink new media rights deals with Amazon’s Prime Video and NBC, marking a return to the latter network for the first time in more than two decades.

Both companies are eager to build a roster of NBA media talent for studio programming and other content, so Charania would undoubtedly be at the top of their respective lists if he were to hit the open market. The 30-year-old could raise his profile even higher than it already is if he opts to become the lead insider for either Prime Video or NBC.
