Valtteri Bottas finished eleventh for Kick Sauber as the team continues to hunt for its first points of the season. He was preceded by Williams’ Logan Sargeant in twelfth and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri in thirteenth, who appeared to lose some time in the garage during the session after sustaining floor damage.

Alpine’s Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly took P14 and P16, separated by Hulkenberg’s Haas in P15, and Lance Stroll – who was running the updates to his Aston Martin previously fitted to Alonso’s car – finished the hour in P17.

Leclerc was unable to resume the session, dropping to 18th, while Yuki Tsunoda was in 19th place after his RB underwent a suspension change earlier in the session. Zhou, meanwhile, came in 20th.

With all the day’s track activities now complete, the drivers and teams will review their data before returning for the third and final practice session at 12.30pm local time on Saturday, ahead of qualifying later in the day.
