Registry Collection Hotels Opens First US Location

A new luxury brand with ties to Wyndham made its U.S. debut this week in Colorado.

The Mining Exchange, a Registry Collection Hotel, opened Thursday in Colorado Springs, Colo., the brand’s first U.S. hotel. The renovated 128-room hotel was originally a Rocky Mountain gold and silver exchange in the early 20th century, but today it’s all about modern luxury. Guests can expect a full-service spa, an on-site art gallery, multiple dining options and easy access to nearby attractions like the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum and the Garden of the Gods.

“The Mining Exchange has been a Colorado icon since 1902,” said Bashar Wali, founder and CEO of Practice Hospitality (the company that currently manages The Mining Exchange), in a statement. “Now, some 120 years later, we’re honoring that heritage by creating a hotel steeped in local flavor and human connection, and one that has earned the distinction of being the first Registry Collection hotel in the U.S. We’re proud to join a portfolio of world-class international hotels and add Colorado Springs to the global list of Registry Collection destinations.”

We’re particularly fascinated by Blk Mgk, a coffee shop that serves breakfast and lunch — and tarot readings for those who want to glimpse into the future while sipping their morning coffee. Golden Hour is the hotel’s indoor-outdoor cocktail lounge that serves smaller bites in the evening.

Guest rooms feature vaulted ceilings and exposed brick with green, wood and leather accents. Local art, vintage furnishings and Malin+Goetz toiletries also come standard. Splurge on a suite for extra features like a living room, sofa bed and a bathroom.

While this may be the first Registry Collection hotel in the U.S., it’s just the latest in a rapid growth spurt for the brand, which Wyndham first launched in 2021. Registry Collection Hotels now has more than 20 hotels — and all-inclusive resorts — around the world, from Greece to Panama. Nearly 10 more are in the brand’s development pipeline.

In combination with Wyndham’s push into lifestyle hotels, the hotel company, typically associated with budget hotels, is looking to take its brand offering to the next level.

“Today’s affluent travelers increasingly crave the customized and immersive experiences that independent, boutique operators can deliver,” Wyndham CEO Geoff Ballotti said in a statement. “Through Registry Collection Hotels, we’re committed to curating these unique experiences for guests while helping owners tap into the unmatched scale and resources of the world’s largest hotel franchisor.”

Cash rates at The Mining Exchange start at $150 per night through the fall, and the property is participating in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. Members can earn double points and a $25 per night credit when booking through the end of this year for stays completed by May 31, 2025.
