Rebecca Minkoff is facing backlash over Real Housewives pregnancy joke

Rebecca minkoff is being criticized for a pregnancy joke she recently pulled on an episode of The Real Housewives of New York.

On Tuesday’s (Nov. 12) episode of the Bravo reality show, the 42-year-old fashion designer enlisted the help of fellow cast member Erin Lichy to trick Jenna Lyons, Sai De Silva, Jessel Taank, Brynn Whitfield and Ubah Hassan into believing was expectation.

Lichy, 37, first spoke to Whitfield, 38, and Lyons, 56, when she planted the fake pregnancy seed. “It’s very, very early, and she’s very stressed about it,” Lichy said of Minkoff.

The real estate agent continued the ruse for the fashion mogul, telling their friends that Minkoff was unsure if her husband, Gavin Bellour, was the baby’s father. Soon, Whitfield was so convinced of the joke that she reportedly spoke to Bellour about the news.

“The whole Rebecca Minkoff pregnancy thing being a joke is really stupid,” one viewer wrote on X/Twitter. “But to then frame an entire episode around it (and also tease it in the season trailer) as if it were true is honestly just a waste of time.”

Another fan wrote: “We should have known this pregnancy rumor would be a joke. We’ve already caught editors who had Brynn and Rebecca Minkoff self-produce on the previous episodes. This is just embarrassing.”

“Wow, somehow Brynn and Erin have managed to produce drama that is more boring and exhausting,” a third user commented, while a fourth said: “The ‘joke’ would have been okay if the producers had been there hadn’t framed an entire episode around it. AND put it in the previews.”
