Ravens: Andrews struggling with ‘minor issue’ after crash but should be ‘fine’

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews has been dealing with a “very minor issue” that has kept him out of practice since he was involved in a serious car accident on Wednesday, coach John Harbaugh said Monday.

“We’re not going to bother him right now,” Harbaugh said. “Don’t worry about Mark. He’s going to be fine.”

On Wednesday, Andrews was involved in an incident that left two vehicles heavily damaged, Baltimore County police said. The incident occurred while Andrews was driving to the Ravens’ training facility. The Ravens released a statement saying Andrews suffered no visible injuries.

But Andrews has been absent from the past three practices since the accident. He was on the field for Saturday’s preseason game, casually catching passes from tight end Isaiah Likely, but did not participate in any drills.

Andrews is expected to travel with the team to Green Bay, where the Ravens will practice with the Packers on Thursday.

Asked about his reaction when he heard about Andrews’ accident, quarterback Lamar Jackson said, “There’s a lot of things going through my mind. That’s Mark Andrews. But he’s good. That’s all that matters.”

Andrews, 28, has been one of the most productive tight ends since being a third-round pick by Baltimore in 2018. Among tight ends, Andrews has the second-most receptions (347) and touchdown catches (37) and the third-most receiving yards (4,305) over the past five seasons.
