Rashid Khan throws baseball for the first time – FirstSportz

Rashid Khan has proven to be one of the best leg-spinners in the cricket arcade and played an instrumental role in propelling Afghanistan to the T20 World Cup semi-finals, where they were defeated by South Africa. Despite the defeat, Afghanistan created history by reaching the T20 World Cup semi-finals for the first time.

In a recent interaction and a video released by YESNetwork, Khan was seen bowling a baseball. The iconic leg-spinner tried to differentiate between bowling the cricket ball and the baseball and emphasized that the seam of the two balls are poles apart but the seam of the latter somehow helps it to spin a lot more, which Rashid Khan absolutely loves.

The weight is pretty much similar but the seam is totally different. I don’t know how I am going to hold the ball. It is going to be exciting for me. I hope it goes right way because the seam position is totally split. (Pointing to the baseball) here it's too wider. I don’t know how it works on the baseball. In conventional cricket ball, I hold the seam proper, this is my leg spin.

Rashid Khan said on the official YouTube channel of YESNetwork

He ended up throwing a couple of balls, one of which was the usual leg spin and the other the wrong one. In both cases, the baseball spun diametrically enough to emphasize that Khan can spin any ball.

A look at Afghanistan’s journey in the T20 World Cup

Afghanistan had a memorable T20 World Cup where they saw the impossible through a hammer and tongs to reach the semi-finals, ahead of giants of the game such as New Zealand, Australia and Pakistan. Up until that semi-final they looked a team that knew what they had to do under the tutelage of Jonathan Trott.

They started the tournament with a win over Uganda, followed by a surprise win over New Zealand, and a convincing one at that. They completed a hat-trick of wins with another comprehensive win over Papua New Guinea. Despite losing to the West Indies and India in succession, they would beat Australia and Bangladesh to secure the coveted semi-final spot.
