Rangers hope to be in a buying position before the deadline

The reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers are four games below .500 entering the second half of the season.

They are 7 1/2 games out of a Wild Card spot in the American League and five games back in the AL West.

Despite this, general manager Chris Young is still hoping for a takeover during the transfer deadline.

“We’re going to do everything we can to win this year,” Young said, though he also left some ambiguity by adding that he wants to “take as much time as possible to make a choice and hopes the results next week make it clear that we are buyers.”
