Ralph Macchio and William Zabka on “Cobra Kai”. Too old for the roles? Nothing could be further from the truth!

The sixth season of “Cobra Kai” debuted a few days ago on Netflix. The finale was divided into three parts. The first premiered on July 18, the next will be released on November 28, and the last in 2025.

In “Cobra Kai” we learn more about the further fate of the characters from the 1984 film “The Karate Kid”. The series is set more than 30 years after the historic karate tournament of 1984. Despite the passage of time, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) remain rivals.

The first two seasons of “Cobra Kai” were produced by YouTube. The rights for the sequel were acquired by Netflix, and it proved to be a hit. The third season quickly became one of the platform’s biggest hits. To this day, the production remains one of the biggest series phenomena of recent years.

In the series “Cobra Kai” Ralph Macchio plays the lead character Daniel LaRusso. On screen he is a partner of Willem Zabkawho plays Johnny Lawrence. Both actors reprise their roles from “The Karate Kid” in the Netflix production.

The gentlemen told PEOPLE in their latest interview about preparing to appear in the sixth season of the streaming giant’s hit.

“To be on this show, you have to be athletic, that keeps us in shape,” Zabka says, adding: “Although there is a thought, ‘I’m too old for this,’ it’s more like, ‘Hey, you’re never too old for anything,’” the 58-year-old actor confessed.

The 62-year-old Macchio agreed with his opponent, adding that basic martial arts techniques are great for his muscles, strength, focus, balance and core.

“It’s funny, in the ’80s I thought, ‘Well, thank God I don’t have to do this anymore!’ I had no idea then. Now I think, ‘You know what? I’m proud of it, because despite my age, I’m doing well. I’m doing really well. And I’m proud of it,'” he says.
