Raise cute baby animals and deal with devastating tornadoes in Farming Simulator 25 – Destructoid

Developer Giants Software has taken the opportunity at Gamescom 2024 to reveal a slew of new details about its next highly anticipated title, Farm Simulator 25In addition to the new animals, players will now also have to care for the offspring of the animals they raise, and deal with extreme weather conditions.

I didn’t have any tornadoes on my bingo card for new features in Farm Simulator 25but here we are. Rice farming was already a pretty exciting prospect, as it brings with it a complex new set of tools, machines, and techniques that you have to master in the game. Dealing with the added complications of baby animals and the colossal damage that massive storms and tornadoes can cause will probably feel like starting over again, and I usually only enjoy that when it’s by choice.

Close the shutters

Farm Simulator 25 brings two new animals to manage: buffalo and goats. As someone who has a fair amount of experience with the latter, let me tell you that goats will absolutely take a mile if you give them an inch of leniency, and you will immediately regret doing so.

To counter the goats, you now also need to keep an eye on your livestock as they breed and give you cute baby animals such as lambs, calves and piglets. You need to care for them and help them grow into productive livestock so that with just a few years of raising them, you can build up a field full of cows.

Of course, what feels like the biggest addition to Farm Simulator 25 of these announcements is extreme weather. We have had dynamic weather in previous reports, but this is the first time that weather can cause real damage to crops, buildings, livestock, and everything on your farm. Possible weather conditions you will encounter include tornadoes, hail, and incredible storms with what I like to call “sideways rain.”

As clouds darken the sky and rain or hail begins to fall, you’ll need to pack up what you’re doing and take cover. The weather won’t last long, but it should give you enough time to re-watch the game’s phenomenal cinematic trailer. Tornadoes can tear apart crops as they tear through the fields, causing damage to your structures. This adds a whole new element to the series, but one that real-world farmers are increasingly having to deal with due to climate change.

I love these new features in Farm Simulator 25and I’m curious to see how they affect a playthrough if you think all is well with the current crop or production line you’ve set up. Having baby animals to interact with should also make for a more accurate economic model, one that I hope accurately represents how difficult it can be to make a profit raising livestock from birth.
