Quick stop clerk who was robbed is now accused of assaulting suspects

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Va. (WCAX) – Police say a clerk who was robbed during a convenience store robbery is now accused of assaulting the suspects.

Investigators say Domonic Ali-Koarti, 34, was behind the counter at the Shell Station on Williston Road in South Burlington last week when two juveniles robbed the store at gunpoint.

South Burlington police say Ali-Koarti told them that after handing over the money, he followed the suspects outside. He said he thought he saw two muzzle flashes and thought the robbers were shooting at him, so he pulled out his personal pistol and fired several shots at them.

The youths told police they were just trying to get away.

Ali-Koarti is now charged with aggravated assault.

The minor suspects have been charged with assault and theft.
