Pre-season friendlies: Arsenal beat German champions Bayer Leverkusen

Arsenal continued their pre-season preparations with an impressive 4-1 victory over German champions Bayer Leverkusen at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners played their first home game since the final day of last season and quickly took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko and Leandro Trossard.

Gabriel Jesus took advantage of a loose throw-in from Leverkusen, managed to clear the ball and made it 3-0 before half-time.

Bukayo Saka came off the bench to create the fourth with a clever back pass. Former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka helplessly passed the ball to German forward Kai Havertz, who reacted quickly and scored.

Leverkusen, who remained unbeaten in the Bundesliga last season, managed to score a goal in the closing stages through Adam Hlozek.

Arsenal play Lyon at home again in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.
