Power restored to thousands of customers in Pine Belt

PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) — Many residents in the Pine Belt have power restored as crews restore power to customers of the seven utility companies in southern Mississippi.

Hurricane Francine, which passed through the area on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, caused power outages for more than 17,000 residents in the southern part of the state.

Crews from seven energy companies serving the Pine Belt quickly responded to restore service.

These are the power outage figures up to and including Thursday 5:05 PM:

In the Pine Belt, customers in Covington, Jasper, Jones and Smith counties are experiencing the most power outages.

  • Lamar: 1
  • Marion: 12
  • Pears: 0
  • Blacksmith: 196

In the state, 7,081 people are still without power.
