Police Officer Arrests His Own ASI After Getting Bribe Demand for Accident

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Lahore has been arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 70,000 from a citizen.

The incident came to light when ASI Waseem, serving in the Lahore Anti-Vehicle Lifting Squad (AVLS), mistakenly sent a message demanding the bribe to a senior police officer instead of the intended citizen. Upon receiving the message, the senior officer acted swiftly, ordering the immediate arrest of the ASI.

ASI Waseem was promptly taken into custody and placed behind bars. A case has been registered against him, and an internal investigation is now underway to determine the full extent of the misconduct.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Organized Crime Unit stated that there will be zero tolerance for corrupt practices within the police force. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against any officials found guilty of accepting bribes or engaging in unethical behavior.

The arrest serves as a warning to law enforcement personnel that corruption will not be tolerated, and swift measures will be taken to maintain integrity within the department.
