Players who could have played for England…

Manchester City striker Haaland, 24, was born in Leeds and could have played for England if he had wanted to.

And things could have turned out very differently if his father Alf-Inge, also a City player, had not retired at the age of 30. The family moved back to Norway when Erling was just three.

“You never know what it would be like if my dad played in England longer, maybe I would be English then, I don’t know,” he said.

“But yes, I am Norwegian and I am proud of it.”

Haaland scored 31 goals in 34 games for Norway.
