‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor dies from shark attack

Tamayo Perry, a lifeguard and surfer, best known for his participation in “pirates of the Caribbean”, died tragically after a shark attack. The actor was surfing near Goat Island on Oahu’s north shore and the incident happened just before 1 p.m. on Sunday. The World Surfer League expressed their feelings on social media, saying:

Representative of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, Shayne Enright, told a news conference that Perry was pulled from the water by Honolulu Ocean Safety. A jet ski was used to rescue his body and he was later pronounced dead when he reached shore. Acting Chief of Honolulu Ocean Safety Kurt Lower said about the lifeguard’s death:

“Perry was a lifeguard that everyone loved. He’s well known on the North Shore. He is a professional surfer known worldwide. Tamayo’s personality was infectious and no matter how many people loved him, he loved everyone else more.”

In addition to playing a pirate in “Pirates of the Caribbean,” he also expanded his acting into other films and TV shows. This includes appearances in “Lost”Hawaii Five-0”, ‘Blue Crush’ and ‘Charlie’s Angels: Full throttle.” His tragic death marks the first fatal shark encounter in Hawaii this year. Normally the islands experience about seven to eight shark incidents every year.
