Pierluigi Gazzolo announces departure from ViX and will remain with the company until December 2024

Pierluigi Gazzolo, who announced his departure as CEO of ViX, will officially step down at the end of this year. In a letter to the company, he stated that when he joined Univision as President and Chief Transformation Officer in January 2021, his goal was just that: “to transform us. With the support of Alfonso, Bernardo and Wade, I was able to develop this organization to meet the needs of the evolution of our audience. Together we conquered the last major streaming avenue to launch a differentiated product that became the largest Spanish-language streaming service in the world.”

Gazzolo added that he is proud of the team’s achievements at ViX. “This year we have reached incredible levels in terms of audience and revenue, while expanding the footprint of our platforms and geographies and offering a premium entertainment product to the Spanish-speaking world. To top it all off, this week we announced profitability for ViX – a great result, driven by the drive and innovation of everyone in this organization, including our friends and colleagues at the channels and studios in Televisa Mexico, who provided content and promotion those helped ViX get to where it is today,” he noted.

He said reaching this turning point in “our progress” makes him feel like his personal transformation journey at TelevisaUnivision is complete. “It is the right time to close this chapter and take time to recharge and discover what my next adventure will be,” he stated.

Daniel Alegre, CEO of TelevisaUnivision, said in an internal memo: “The strategic project that Pierluigi and his team embarked on just over three years ago has become one of our most important efforts, vital to our global business. The long nights and passionate work that Pierluigi brought to the table, along with the great team he helped build, are a testament to his incredible leadership skills. A friend to many, Pierluigi has had an undeniable impact on the evolution of TelevisaUnivision and played an integral role in advancing the company’s streaming and digital transformation following the merger of Televisa and Univision.”

Gazzolo will work closely with Rafael Urbina (COO of ViX) in the coming weeks to determine the best leadership structure for ViX.

“In the meantime, we will continue with business as usual to finish 2024 strong,” concluded Gazzolo.
