Pete Davidson steps out for a fun date night with his mom after ‘false’ rehab rumors

Pete Davidson steps out in the Big Apple.

The Saturday evening live alum, 31, made his first public appearance since rumors surfaced that he returned to rehab after dating Bachelor alum Maria Georgas. He attended a Brooklyn Nets game on Tuesday, November 19, where he witnessed the New York team narrowly defeat the Charlotte Hornets.

Joined by his mother Amy Waters Davidson, the comedian smiled as he put his arm around his mother and posed for a photo.

Shortly after the speculation began, Georgas, 30, cleared the air about their relationship status, writing on her Instagram Stories: “Never dated Pete. False rumor. I’m friends with his sister. Case closed.”

In a second post, the reality star also clarified that Davidson “is not in rehab and has been sober for months.”

“I can’t believe this. It is very insulting to his recovery and my mental health,” she wrote. “He’s literally home.”

Earlier this month, Davidson stopped by Saturday evening live for a surprise cameo.

Davidson and cast member Andrew Dismukes, along with host John Mulaney, created a sketch about Duane Reade from the Port Authority bus station in New York City. During the segment, Davidson’s bare arms were seen as he continued to remove many of his tattoos.

The performances come four months after PEOPLE confirmed Davidson and Outdoor benches star Madelyn Cline went their separate ways in July after ten months together. The following month, the actor checked into a wellness center.

Davidson sought mental health treatment in late July as he continued to focus on his sobriety, a source told PEOPLE at the time. The insider said his friends and family were proud that the Bupkis alum has continued to take care of himself and that his mental health has “always been a priority.”

After his summer stint, a source told PEOPLE that the comedian was “back on track” and doing well.

“He looks better and healthier than ever before and he feels happy,” the insider said at the time.

Over the years, Davidson has been outspoken about his mental health and has spoken several times about his previous stints in rehab, most recently in September 2023 during a show with John Mulaney and Jon Stewart in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

He joked that he had “that post-rehab glow” because he was “fresh out of rehab.”
