Person struck by vehicle at Washington Square Mall

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Vanderburgh County Dispatch confirms that police responded to an assault in progress near Washington Square Mall.

According to the dispatcher, the call came in on Friday at 7:03 p.m

An EPD sergeant on scene tells us that when they arrived, they found a person on the ground. The victim told police he lived in a nearby apartment and saw an older model car doing donuts in the parking lot.

Officials say the victim confronted the car and a verbal altercation ensued.

The victim grabbed the steering wheel, was then thrown out of the car and then run over.

Police have no information about the vehicle other than it is a green car of an older make and model.

According to the EPD sergeant, the victim was taken to the hospital and may have internal injuries but appears to be OK.
