Pedo cop switched off bodycam during 999 call to sexually assault young girl and kept children’s underwear at his home

A PAEDO officer who switched off his bodycam while on the phone so he could sexually assault a young girl has been jailed.

Dean Dempster was called to reports of “screaming and shouting” at a house in Oldham as he preyed on the victim, who was less than ten years old.

The 35-year-old turned off his bodycam and carried out a sickening attack before taking a picture of the abuse on his mobile.

His brave victim later told a relative what had happened, saying: “He did this to me – I’m not lying.”

Greater Manchester Police launched a research and discovered that their PC had a “sexual interest in children.”

Before starting his shift that day, the predator had conducted vicious internet searches babies and “little girls on the beach”.

Officers raided his home and found folded children’s panties, torn underwear, sex toys and two hard drives.

There was also a safe in the house containing an iPad, but the contents of Dempster’s phone had been erased.

In total, police discovered almost 3,000 child abuse images on his devices, including 104 of the most serious ‘category A’ type.

Some of these included “pseudo images”, where Dempster had his head placed in explicit child sex photos.

Liverpool Crown Court heard Dempster had been given restricted duties after the young victim made the complaint.

His inspector became suspicious when the officer made an “unsolicited comment” about the girl pulling down her pants when asked to lift her top to check for bruises.

The girl told police that Dempster groped her and left her “shaking” in fear.

He has now been given an extended prison sentence of fourteen years, of which he must serve a minimum of nine years in prison.

Dempster was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The enemy had pleaded guilty to indecent assault on a child under 13, misconduct in a public office and six charges of making indecent images of children.

Deputy Chief Constable Terry Woods said: “I am angry and shocked by this appalling abuse of responsibility and trust. We commend the courage of this young victim in coming forward. We apologize to her family and know that nothing will ever undo the damage Dempster caused to his victims.

“Dempster represents the very worst of society. He’s not a police officer; he is a child molester, a criminal, and he has no right to be near a police uniform or serve the public. Dempster was rightly arrested and charged before he could ever work in our communities again.

“We have thoroughly reviewed Dempster’s checks and can confidently say that there was nothing that even remotely suggested that he had a sexual interest in children. He was a man with a career in public service and his record showed no signs of warning.

“Dempster is a depraved exception that we have wasted no time in rejecting and disowning.

“The thousands of officers he has let down are committed to protecting children in Oldham and Greater Manchester, and anyone who undermines this priority has no place in GMP.”
