Patriots owner: Jabrill Peppers ‘gone’ if domestic violence allegations are true

FOXBOROUGH – While the Patriots allow due process with Jabrill Peppers, Robert Kraft said there will be zero tolerance if the allegations against the safety are true.

Peppers was arrested following a reported domestic dispute and is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation or suffocation, possession of a class B substance (cocaine) and assault and battery on a household or relative.

Kraft appeared on “The Breakfast Club” and said Peppers is “gone” if the allegations are true.

“When you initially read it (police report), it turns your stomach,” Kraft said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. “Once he is on the commissioner’s exempt list, they will conduct their independent review. We do ours. If what was reported is true, he’s gone. There have been some suggestions that this was a set-up and much of what has been reported is incorrect… We want to get the facts.”

The NFL placed Peppers on the Commissioner’s Exempt List this week, meaning Peppers is barred from games and practices in New England. He’s still allowed to be at the facility per league rules, but Jerod Mayo said safety won’t be up to the team for a while.

“I just want to be clear that absolutely any form of domestic violence is unacceptable to us,” Mayo said Wednesday. “As a team, regardless of whether you are a player or staff member, we wholeheartedly oppose any form of domestic violence. I know the organization’s position and fully support it. That said, I think Jabrill needs to go through the (legal) system, continue to go through due process and we’ll see how that plays out. What I’m saying is that the league has put him on the exempt list and that will give us more time to really gather more information in the future. Right now he’s not in the building and we’ll talk about that later.

“As a father of three daughters, I absolutely understand the seriousness of the allegations, and hopefully they are not true. But we will go through that due process.”
