Freestone County Hosts 4th of July Events

Thursday, July 4th is America’s Independence Day and festivities are taking place all over Freestone County, Texas.

VALUABLE

Start on the brick streets of downtown Wortham for their annual 4th on Main Parade. Bring your float, ride your bike, gator, tractor,

ATV, mule, motorcycle, horses, make a float, drive your old car, dress up your pet and go for a walk!

The parade starts at 9:00 am

All parade participants must meet at the high school at 8:30am to be placed in line for the parade.

Registration is FREE. Deadline for registration is July 2nd.

Everyone is cordially invited to join the residents (pictured above) after the parade for fun, community spirit, hot dogs, chips, water, ice cream, and a water slide!

Don’t forget your chairs, towels and patriotic spirit!

All food and drinks are free for everyone, while supplies last!

STREET MAN

Then head to the town of Streetman for the 27th annual July 4th Lawnmower Parade and Celebration.

Everyone is welcome, including lawn mowers, tractors, ATVs, golf carts, bicycles, vintage cars, horses and much more.

No registration is required, simply line up at the corner of Main Street and Highway 30 starting at 9:30am. The parade begins at 10am.

Children under the age of 10 and (domestic) animals must be accompanied by an adult throughout the entire event.

After the parade (and awards ceremony) there will be a FREE lunch at the Streetman Fire Station with hot dogs, chips and drinks.

This annual event is held in memory of Tommy J. Bryant, who started the tradition with a single lawn mower and an American flag.

RICHLAND CHAMBERS AREA

Southern Oaks Property Owners Association is hosting an all-you-can-eat fishing party starting at 12:30 p.m. at the clubhouse at 111 Southern Oaks Drive.

Everyone is invited. Donations are welcome.

Later in the evening, fireworks displays are planned at several locations along the Richland Chambers Reservoir shoreline for boaters to enjoy as well.

TEAGUE

The 94th annual Teague 4th of July Rodeo officially kicks off Thursday with a patriotic Rodeo Parade down Main Street.

Make plans to arrive early for the Teague Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Burger Fundraiser, which begins at 5 p.m. in the Citizens State Bank parking lot. Always a treat!

The Best Dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl contest will be held in conjunction with the parade. The lineup is at 5:30pm at the Teague Hotel.

Children participating must be able to ride through the parade unaided (no leadership). Buckles are awarded and winners are announced each night of the rodeo.

The parade begins at 6:00 PM at the west end of Main Street and ends at the Teague Rodeo Arena at the corner of 10th Avenue and Cypress Street.

The Teague 4th of July Rodeo will be held every night on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 4, 5 and 6.

Mutton Bustin’ performances take place at 7:00 PM and Rodeo events begin at 8:00 PM

Local events include Wild Cow Milking, Junior Barrels, Junior Ribbons and Senior Ribbons.

Other rodeo events include Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc, Bulls, Tie Down, Breakaway, Barrels, Steer Roping and Team Roping.

The entrance fee is $10 per person ages 13 and older.

FAIR FIELD

Enjoy an extra night of 4th of July celebration with Fairfield’s annual Patriotic Fireworks Show on Friday, July 5 at the Freestone County Fairgrounds.

On site, Nani’s Kitchen & Catering, Amazing Cravings Jewel’s Way and Kona Ice are all serving up delicious bites.

All Things Arty will also be there to paint the children’s faces.

Be sure to tune in to KNES Texas 99.1 for patriotic music during the fireworks show, which begins as soon as it gets dark (approximately 9 p.m.).

The fireworks display is sponsored by the City of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
