Partial Fire Restrictions – Sheridan Media

Due to critical fire conditions, the Sheridan County Board of County
Commissioners, based on recommendations from County Fire Warden Chris Thomas and rural fire department chiefs, have announced the implementation of partial fire restrictions effective July 9, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.

Main limitations:

 Open Burning: All open burning outside of incorporated cities is prohibited. Federal lands

o Gas and charcoal fires are permitted, provided they are in enclosed grills.

 15 Feet Clearance: Make sure there is no flammable material within 15 feet when welding,
grinding, cutting torches, recreational garden fires, fire activities and fires
barrels. In addition, waste or garbage fires are permitted between 6:00 p.m.
and 8:00 a.m., in a container fitted with a spark arrester (a heavy metal screen

 No fireworks: Setting off any type of fireworks, including exploding targets, is strictly prohibited.

 Recreational fires: Small recreational fires are permitted at residential properties, provided there is sufficient space.
