Paris 2024 Olympic Games Live Updates: Katie Ledecky Goes for Gold in Signature 1500m Event

The swimming program for the 2024 Paris Olympics is in full swing as stars from Team USA and around the world prepare for a big day in the pool in the second session of the day on Wednesday in Paris. Five events have medal finals today and Katie Ledecky is the big name in the pool for the U.S. in her signature event, the 1500m freestyle. She has held the world record in the event since 2013 and has steadily improved it over the past 11 years, with the current record being 15:20.48.

Also vying for medals for Team USA in the women’s 100m freestyle are Torri Huske and Gretchen Walsh. Huske and Walsh finished 1-2 for gold and silver in the women’s 100m butterfly. On the men’s side, Chris Guiliano and Jack Alexy are in the finals of the 100m freestyle and Josh Matheny is in the finals of the 200m breaststroke.
