The 4th of July celebration starts early this year, starting with a food truck festival at Garden State Plaza with nightly fireworks.

Hosted by the Paramus Volunteer Fire Department on June 30, the food trucks will be held on the west lot of Garden State Plaza and the Cliff Gennarelli Sports Complex beginning at 3 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or $10 for a family of 2 or more, with all proceeds benefiting the fire department.

There will also be live music hosted by DJ Valentino and iHeartRadio from 6pm, with a fireworks display at dusk. The rain date for fireworks is July 7.

“I think we might be one of the first (to have fireworks) in the Fourth of July season,” said Councilman Ace Antonio, who helped put on the event.

Featured food trucks include:

  • Hold my buttons
  • The quarry wagon
  • The Mozzarella God
  • Rolling pita bread
  • Kielbasa and more
  • Save me
  • Kimchi smoke
  • Empanada mania
  • Eat my balls
  • Angry Archies
  • The Ice Woman
  • The Brownie Bar
  • Johnny Zeppoli
  • Clyde’s Homemade Italian Ice

Event attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs. All guests may bring clear plastic, vinyl or PVC carry bags and will undergo a security screening and bag inspection prior to entry.

On July 1, the festivities will continue with the Frank “Dutch” Cleenput annual 4th of July softball game at the Cliff Gennarelli Sports Complex at 8:15 p.m. The match will pit the Paramus Fire Department against the Paramus Police Department.

There will also be an Independence Day parade on July 4, starting at 9am. The parade can be viewed from Farview Avenue, Midland Avenue and at the Memorial Elementary School Grand Stand. Masters of ceremonies for the parade are DJ Valentino and Bartel, iHeartRadio and 103.5.
