Paralympics 2024: Claire Taggart defeated in boccia semi-final in Paris

Claire Taggart was defeated 3-2 by South Korea’s Soyeong Jeong in her BC2 women’s individual boccia semi-final at the Paralympic Games on Sunday morning.

The British competitor from Larne now progresses to the bronze medal match against Gischa Zayana from Indonesia later on Sunday.

The 29-year-old, who first competed in Rio in 2016 and is now a three-time Paralympic champion, reached the semi-finals after beating Hong Kong’s Hiu Lam Yeung 3-2 in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

Taggart won two gold medals at the 2022 Boccia World Cup in Portugal and later that same year he won gold at the Boccia World Championships in Rio.

Meanwhile, Team Ireland are assured of another medal on Sunday when Katie-George Dunlevy takes on Britain’s Sophie Unwin in the 3000m individual pursuit final.
