Orlando Magic Asks Playboi Carti to Drop His Album

Fans of Playboi Carti have been eagerly awaiting his next project, and on Sunday (September 1), he may have hinted that the wait is almost over. The rapper posted photos of himself in a Penny Hardaway Orlando Magic jersey on the Instagram account for his clothing line, Opium.

“I COULD F**K A POP B**CH (AND) PASS HER (TO THE) BRODIE,” the caption read. Under the carousel, several of the “Fell in Luv” performers — including photographer Gunner Stahl — noted, “Money on money.”

Orlando Magic reposted Carti’s photo on Twitter, telling him to “drop” the album. Timberland, meanwhile, wrote “ALBUM READY” on his Instagram Story.

Especially lately, Carti seems to be working on everyone’s project but his own. In February, he reunited with Ye for “CARNIVAL.” The record, which also featured contributions from Ty Dolla Sign and Rich The Kid, peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Billboard Hot 100.

Fast forward to next month, the self-proclaimed King Vamp lent his voice to Future and Metro Boomin’s “Type S**t” from WE DON’T TRUST YOU. The song also featured Travis Scott, with whom he collaborated on 2023’s “FE!N.” Elsewhere, Carti did an alt-pop crossover with Camila Cabello on her “I LUV IT.”

“That’s where rap is. I knew it was gonna be that. What do people expect? We ain’t just signing people to sign people. We wanna be the best of the best, and that’s it, and his s**t speaks for itself,” ASAP Rocky told Billboard when asked if the Very much red rapper is the future of rap.
