One of The Witcher 3’s endings has been restored by a fan mod

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is celebrating its 10th anniversary next year, but the game apparently still has a few secrets to give up. Fan modder MerigoldMariobor has unearthed a few lost moments of dialogue from one of The Witcher 3’s endings, and has released a new mod that gives Geralt and Ceri a little more closure.

Via IGN , the game’s ending has a favorable outcome for Geralt and Ciri, as he gives her a sword symbolizing her status as a fellow Witcher. However, there were two dropped moments of dialogue that added more to the scene. First, Ciri finally gets a chance to react to having her own Witcher sword, before she and Geralt make plans to reunite with either Yen or Triss, depending on who Geralt is romancing in-game. The video below adds both of these moments back into the story.

The final expansion for The Witcher 3, Blood and Wine, appears to wrap up Geralt’s story arc. CD Projekt has already announced that The Witcher 4 is in development , and with Geralt’s story wrapped up, it would only make sense for Ciri to become the game’s new protagonist. That’s still speculation at this point, but CD Projekt recently confirmed that Geralt will have a much smaller role in the next game.

CD Projekt hasn’t set a release date for The Witcher 4, but the development team was expanded in late 2023 as production ramped up. It’s too early to predict when The Witcher 4 will release, but it will likely launch on current-gen consoles. In the meantime, The Witcher Season 4, starring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, will release in 2025.
